  6. …in reply to @alexhern
@alexhern wasn't this the origin story of OkCupid, too? Not quite as direct a bait-and-switch, but SparkNotes was their initial pool.
  7. …in reply to @pozorvlak
@pozorvlak very little of the revelations of the security agencies workings has been surprising - but confirmed & on the record is news

  26. …in reply to @v21
What's something I could do while waiting that would take about a minute longer than the bus will take to arrive?
  27. …in reply to @WordMercenary
@WordMercenary no, I did it sloppily, and then before I could fix it, Twitter removed the ability to upload transparent avatars.
  28. …in reply to @v21
@WordMercenary it can never be mended.
  29. …in reply to @WordMercenary

  51. just discovered my server has a 32bit userland on a 64bit kernel and i really wish i didn't know or care about what that means
  52. …in reply to @v21
(it means nvm gets it wrong, which means it's hard to install new node version, which means no phantomjs2, which means CBDQ SVGs are fussy)
  53. …in reply to @kaptenskojare
    @oskar_lq it's been fun
  54. …in reply to @BanditoJuan
@BanditoJuan @fastramdesign @jabelsjabels I think that's my pick, too. So literally nothing alone, so much good food enabled.
  55. …in reply to @legobutts
  56. CBDQ SVG support has just gotten better: moved to phantomjs2, so more things will render, and when they fail they print an error message.
  57. …in reply to @legobutts
  58. @deer_ful i fixed up CBDQ! it now shows you errors inline if your SVG is not quite valid.
  59. …in reply to @v21
@deer_ful (and tested it on @GraphicScoreBot's corpus - it pointed me at the errors, I fixed them, it worked \o/)

  92. wait, fuck, that.party sold out already?
  93. I have complicated feelings about being on the waitlist for that.party. I always found watching tickets sell out terrifying?

  138. So glad to be making tools I don't understand the capabilities of.
  139. Weirdly, I'm less into fantasy lands and more into the sense of dislocation caused by suddenly being in them or out of them.
  140. …in reply to @v21
This tweet brought to you by "huh. this VR thing, i guess"
  141. LOOK at the kind of shit CBDQ is capable of now! Also at the skill of @GalaxyKate, ofc. And the pretty spaceships. @TinyAdv/695321925627809794

@dreamfeelx ps reasonably often i wish i was in dublin so i could come watch films at lunchtime with you
  147. just watched that Unreal VR vid (lorenschmidt.itch.io/dungeon-decorator), and suddenly i have THOUGHTS about VR editor design. okay:
  148. …in reply to @v21
first off : floating gizmos attached to your hands? grabbing with laser pointers? why not make things much more physical?
  149. …in reply to @jonbro
    @jonbro ahhhhh, that is beautiful.
  150. …in reply to @jonbro
hahaha okay, link is actually here: youtube.com/watch?v=JKO9fEjNiio. but yeah, click the other link instead @jonbro
  151. …in reply to @v21
you don't need grid alignment, move-along-x-axis. just grab and move. and maybe optional gravity instead of floor snapping.
  152. …in reply to @v21
mainly, though: why is it at that scale? why isn't it a dinky little tabletop scene, with a "warp here and look about" tool?
  153. …in reply to @v21
the sensors are accurate enough and your arms won't get so tired. you can have the overview, eye up alignments etc much easier.
  154. …in reply to @v21
and you can make the tools exist in the space, make them discoverable. a scale wand, a grab wand, a texture wand, a spawn wand.
  155. …in reply to @v21
(shortcuts on the controllers, too - but an endless drawer full of models would be nicer than a virtual iPad of rendered previews)
  156. …in reply to @v21
i totally know why you'd do it this way first, and can feel the pain of hacking in VR to a unwieldy beast like Unreal. but in the future...
  157. …in reply to @polclarissou
@polclarissou ohh, that sounds like rad arguments to be having. my experience is too limited.
  158. …in reply to @dreamfeelx
@dreamfeelx whaaaa...! excited for that to be so soon, then! thanks! ks is okay, i think we'll get there. if you want advice, hmu!
  159. …in reply to @dreamfeelx
@dreamfeelx and that would be rad. i want to do more weekend trips this year. will start scheming!
  160. …in reply to @timoni
@timoni aye, i can see that - i think especially it was the using lasers to translate/two handed grab that seemed unwieldy.
  161. …in reply to @v21
    @timoni but that's also necessary if you're person-sized and designing room-sized stuff.
  162. …in reply to @BanditoJuan
@BanditoJuan that sounds a bit tricky, yeah. i'm okay with palettes generally, but the radial menu & model selector seemed transplanted.
  163. …in reply to @jonbro
@jonbro i have not! yeah, i bet it does (i am pretty sure some of these ideas are ripped from articles about it)
  164. …in reply to @vectorpoem

  168. …in reply to @martinhollis
@martinhollis @jonbro sorry! the original link was to @lorenschmidt's dungeon editor, not the vid. dungeon editor is better.
  169. …in reply to @v21
that said, some of the capabilities are potential security holes on my server. hm hm.
  170. …in reply to @timoni
@timoni i guess... i think i'd be fine with just really fast switching. i assume jump cuts feel better in VR than overlays?
  171. …in reply to @AimieWilson27
@AimieWilson27 @JmeBBK It's called Fabulous Beasts! We should be out late this year, but you can back us now: kickstarter.com/projects/sensibleobject/fabulous-beasts-a-new-kind-of-game
