  1. in the realms of bureaucratic hell trying to persuade HMRC that their website does not work for me. and when I say "does not work" I mean this very literally:

advice very much welcome (the Corporation Tax helpline told me to talk to Online Services, Online Services told me I was logged in and to report it via the "there is a problem with this webpage" form, technical support got back to me and told me I must be in the wrong account ...

... but the only other account I can find, when I try to do this same thing, it tells me the tax is already setup elsewhere. presumably here. So I don't know what to do)
  4. @HMRCcustomers hello! I opened a ticket about this, but any advice on where to go from here would be welcome @v21/1831291650921865706
  5. …in reply to @HMRCcustomers
@HMRCcustomers yes, I am - as the video shows, it sometimes says it's added and sometimes says it isn't. my understanding from talking to the Online Services helpdesk is that I am logged into the correct account
  6. …in reply to @HMRCcustomers
@HMRCcustomers I did report, I was told it must be registered under a different account - which doesn't seem right to me, given what I see in this video (and from Online Services seeing me logged in). I have replied, waiting to hear back again!

@HMRCcustomers (but getting a little frustrated, having spoken to three departments, all of which have suggested I need to speak to one of the others)

@SpudFromDublin no, that was unhelpful advice

@FreyaHolmer waiting impatiently for jj to become mature enough to be a sensible recommendation (it solves this problem, and is git compatible. but also the mental model is Different)
  11. …in reply to @__justplaying
@__justplaying @FreyaHolmer I've always said the problem with git is that there aren't enough hashes. but I think the multiple sets of hashes are what helps solve this problem- it allows you to have an anonymous identifier for a commit and also modify that commit freely
  12. …in reply to @v21
@__justplaying @FreyaHolmer which means you can make the changes and then shift those changes around into different logical commits as you like. but also there's a layer of immutable changesets underneath that for the thing to work. but which can largely be ignored.
  13. …in reply to @v21
@__justplaying @FreyaHolmer this also means you don't have a staging area any more - you just add the changes to a commit incrementally and reversibly
  14. RT @LiaSae: In Andean weaving your technology is a bunch of sticks and cleverly wound string. So the locus of tech isn’t the tool, it’s in…

  16. …in reply to @__justplaying
@__justplaying @FreyaHolmer yeah, it'll be a huge pain to have to rewire your brain to use it. but I think it'll be worth it. Once it's mature, anyway, I'm not gonna strain my brain til then.
  17. Downpour status: it's not currently possible to log-in - seems to be an issue with the authentication provider, I think I have to wait for a resolution from their end.
