here's my Good Omens take, having binged the whole show this weekend: it's funny how much effort they put into, and how much juice they get out of, the homoerotic subtext between Aziraphale and Crowley. So much less charge if they were just… in a relationship with rocky moments.

the gay man overhearing them argue and saying "ah, my ex was like that, you're better off without him" : thrilling and exciting when the romance is subtextual. pointless if it was just text.
