@jwaaaap Although in more wholehearted recommendations: Sei Shonagon's Pillow Book. A book of musings from a poet & court lady from Japan, written around 1000. It really gives you a sense of the everyday, which can be hard to find looking back across history.Permalink Look on archive.org
