knife: even more classic than the spoon. a device for cutting! doesn't want to go in the mouth (unless they're honey-covered peas), but instead automates a crucial function of the mouth. cutting without teeth! literally one of the defining tools of our species. 10/10Look on archive.org

fork: a recent innovation that has totally upturned how we eat. spoons & knives are from prehistory, forks (in the UK) only became common in the 18th century. but it's such a cunning design. it scoops, great. but flip it over and it also spears! such a clever design. 10/10Permalink Look on archive.org
