jumping off from this, because I've not seen too much of either in my career. what I've seen is: - work is satisfying, even sometimes fun, in itself - but too much or with a frustrating context makes it draining - not much of a relationship between hard work and good outcomes @polotek/1499170256861884418

neither of these things really touch on career advice, or how to get promoted or make more money. but in my experience they're true, and if you start from there the rest of the conversation feels like it goes differently.
