ugh i feel like i should be making loud statements on the future of social media to drum up interest for Downpour

but, like... idk. i wanna make a useful service? i wanna make enough money to make it a viable ongoing thing? i feel i can usefully differentiate from other cool similar things by existing on phones & being easy to use even if you're not technical?

i'll write a better thread later, this is very much a post-11pm chain of thoughts

i guess my main Take about Reddit is that they managed to get into a situation where moderation, the hardest thing that a social platform has to solve, is done by the community without needing payment. what a strategically great position for a business to be in!

and now they're making enemies of the mods who do all that work for them for free? i mean, sure, running a social platform means sometimes making decisions people don't like, but... this seems like an unforced error.
