      The first thing that is interesting is that they have the same issues that Twitter has been grappling with for years - the experiences of veteran users & new users are so very different, and trying to widen the funnel for new users involves a lot of stuff old users (rightly) fear

    But the main thing is that it's probably a bad idea to post internal product strategy docs without properly contextualising them for users. Of *course* everyone is gonna get upset and think you're gonna yank away the chronological feed.

      Like, it makes sense to use language like "However, we haven’t always had a consistent and coordinated effort around retaining, nurturing, and growing our creator base." internally. But why would you think that was a good thing to tell Tumblr users?? Hire a community manager!
